New Mexico Infrastructure Finance Conference Hosts 20th Annual Conference

The 20th annual New Mexico Infrastructure Finance Conference (NMIFC) will take place October 28-30 at the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque. NMIFC offers local entities and individuals the opportunity to meet with key funding agency contacts, designers, architects and engineers that can answer questions and provide guidance as they bring their capital projects to reality. Conference participants include about 500 representatives of local municipalities, government planners, legislators, federal agencies, special districts, tribes and pueblos, private organizations and New Mexico businesses.

The theme for this year’s conference is: “20 Years of IFC: Learning from the Past, Investing in the Future” with the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) serving as the chairing agency.  “Planning and funding of sustainable infrastructure projects throughout New Mexico lays a stronger foundation for a healthy and prosperous New Mexico. In three days of sessions and workshops on tourism, utilities, planning, water and wastewater, economic development, transportation, housing, and other public infrastructure the conference will bring technical and financing advice forward that facilitates the planning and development of much-needed capital projects throughout New Mexico.” said Environment Secretary Ryan Flynn.

City of Albuquerque Mayor Richard J. Berry, New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez, and NMED Secretary Ryan Flynn will serve as this year’s opening speakers.  There will be five plenary sessions: Dale Dekker will present “New Mexico Inc.- Challenges and Opportunities”; Gary Oppedahl will discuss “Infrastructure and Entrepreneurism”; DFA and LFC will present “Updated Capital Projects Tracking”,  Art Umble will address “The Future of Water: Reuse”; and a panel will present “Plenty4@LL-Transforming Your Community Through Creative and Innovative Funding NOT on Your Dime!”  Break out session tracks include Community and Economic Development, Utilities, Tribal, Transportation, Planning, Finance, and Housing.
